Discipleship Training (DT) is a two-year program for students in 7th and 8th grades for understanding and exploring our faith in Jesus Christ. Entering Discipleship Training is part of the Faith Milestones approach that we use at CTK.
In baptism parents, sponsors and the congregation made promises to fulfill responsibilities to nurture children in the Christian faith as we are empowered by the Holy Spirit. DT is another step along that journey.
The program includes several components, including:
• Wednesday classes
• Regular worship attendance
• Serving as acolyte in worship
• Service projects
• Other opportunities to serve during worship
• Parent support providing an occasional meal and assisting in other ways
This year the Wednesday classes will focus on the Bible. For year two, the tentative schedule includes material on the Small Catechism and Faith in Life.
As you know, CTK is in a pastoral transition, which may mean some changes here and there in how the program is structured. The goal of understanding our Christian faith and affirming our baptism will remain the same.
We will have a program kick-off night on Wednesday, September 11th at 6pm. This will be a picnic supper with some activities and an overview presentation of our program. We will separately email a registration link in about two weeks. Please email Pastor Jim to confirm your intent to begin or continue in the DT program at CTK. This will help in doing some advance planning for September.
